Even though the Dojo is currently closed due to COVID-19, we have coordinated to hold an open space training session in Quincy’s Merrymount Park.

The event will be a great way for students to get feedback on their technique and for instructors to gauge the level of students. As a result, it is highly recommended that all students attend.

The class will also be streamed via Zoom and the link will be provided to all current students.

Demo: CCBA August Moon Festival

こんにちは、真剣度か!Hello, Shinkendoka!

Shinkendo Boston will be performing a live demonstration of Shinkendo in the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association's August Moon Festival on August 12th. The Festival is held in Boston's Chinatown, near the famous Chinatown gate.

While the August Moon Festival is a Chinese tradition and Shinkendo is a Japanese martial art, Shinkendo Boston fosters both local and international ties and celebrates diversity. We look forward to demonstrating in honor of a valued local organization's seasonal tradition.

We will update the events page with a better time and location as the event draws near.

Shinkendo Boston looks forward to seeing you there!

Boy Scouts of America Eagle Court Honors Shinkendoka Leeon Bacchus

Please join Shinkendo Boston in honoring member Leeon Bacchus as he receives the coveted rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program. The rank was founded over 100 years ago and only four percent of Boy Scouts attain this rank. The Eagle Scout must demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based upon the Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership, characteristics valued by Shinkendo and most definitely displayed by Leeon.

The reception will be held on May 19 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hingham Fire Department, 339 Main St. Hingham, MA, 02043. We look forward to seeing you there.

Hello Everyone,

This May, Sensei and his son will be visiting Honbu for an Instructors’ seminar run by Obata Kaiso.

Instructors’ seminars are important for senior students and instructors to attend in order to learn more about teaching Shinkendo and about new techniques and practices that are being developed at the headquarters dojo.

Although this event is only for senior Shinkendo students/instructors, students are encouraged to ask Sensei about his key takeaways and new things he may have learned.
